I have still tender hopes that she’s gonna run away with the popular vote and I’m praying like crazy that she gets the Electoral College. If she does and we win House and Senate majorities, that Electoral College thing oughta be a goner in the first month.
Carol L. Clark: How is it POSSIBLE to find ourselves intricated in an election that sees the worst of the Jim-Crow/KKK-white-nationalist race baiting on the one side,
while,
On the other side, we have a Joyful, Happy Warrior who has the faults of a good person and who has earned the title Statesman through a young life filled with leadership for a large, industrial State, California, which makes Kamala Harris the most qualified person in recent history to become President.
And, against this backdrop . . .
The election is CLOSE?!
Weird.
Simply weird.
We have a real opportunity for Statesmanship to step up and reaffirm America as the Leader of the Free World.
During Trump, Emmanuelle Macron wondered about NATO being brain dead.
During Biden/Harris: NATO is stronger than ever, with territorial depth slamming right against the Russian border; with France ready to send up to 60,000 troops to Ukraine; with Ukraine combatting Russians with fighter jets; with a Proud Mother Russia having to use TROOPS from such countries as Syria, Iran and . . . North Korea.
The strength of NATO and the Western Alliance under Biden/Harris speaks volumes of American power overseas when we are led by Statesmen.
As always, you provide food for thought and sum up the insanity of this election cycle when an inheritor of the worst of 1930s Germany is up against what has until this century would have seemed against all odds: a Black woman sitting as President at the Resolute Desk for the next 4 years.
Carol L. Clark: Thank you so much for your work and your sharing of critical information for our CORE VALUES.
As a lifelong member of the Air Force and Navy, it is obvious how I react to the revelations from General Kelly about Trump, "fascist to the core!"
"A Black woman sitting as President at the Resolute Desk for the next 4 years."
Maybe it is too early to gloat . . . But you and I want this Black woman at the White House for the next eight (8) years.
You don't have to answer that part, because I know you welcome this promise, not only for Kamala Harris, but for the building of mutual respect and civility in our society.
The greatest need in America is mutual love and respect.
The Nazi obsession of the rightwing racist-Nationalists is very dangerous to American society.
And it isn't a first. Trump had a picture of Andrew Jackson. At 76, I grew up in the 1950s, and Andrew Jackson was a hero. Andrew Jackson was, indeed, a leader with great gifts and abilities. But Andrew Jackson was among many in the 19th Century that murdered First Nation Peoples in a wave that was genocidal. My God, I would read or hear audio of diaries of American soldiers, for example, in the 1870s, and would be shocked at description of American soldiers targeting First Nation villages where the warriors were absent and camping were only the women, children and the old. The soldiers would murder whole villages, from the contemporaneous diaries.
In the 20th C. this turned to lynching on a scale that Eleanor Roosevelt, circa 1938, urged FDR to introduce anti-lynching legislation in the Senate. FDR wouldn't, because he could not afford to lose his Southern coalition.
Imagine that.
A President, who comforted us -- "All we have to fear, is fear itself!" -- where whole neighborhoods would echo with radios playing the "Fireside Chats," this President who later led the Free World in the existential battle with the genocidal Third Reich; this President, who introduced the "New Deal" and Social Security; This President, himself a great Statesman, married to an even greater Statesman -- Eleanor Roosevelt (who appeared on TV several times when I was a kid, and who is a LIVING MEMORY to me!) -- THIS statesman would not outlaw (through Congress) lynching -- which was decimating the Black population.
This occurred not so long before my own birth.
So, in 2024 many support a blatant neo-Nazi -- "they poison our BLOOD" (straight from the Nazi playbook!) -- or "they steal your pets and EAT them in voodoo rituals" (right from the Blood Libel against Jews that over the centuries stirred pogroms!!).
Reagan, borrowing rhetoric from the Pilgrim Forefathers, thought of America as the beacon on the Hill.
Leaving aside my feelings (quite negative) about Ronald Reagan, that is a healthy, happy symbol.
But we have gone through the long civil-rights movement -- at 76, I lived through almost all of the movement, and this movement converted and grounded me, because it is and remains the Great Moral Movement of Our Time.
After having the great lessons of the Great Moral Movement, how can we have such a large populace susceptible to race-baiting?!
The campaign of Kamala Harris hits all of the right notes and promises programs that benefit all peoples in America. Kamala Harris and her campaign show love and respect for all persons.
We have so very much to hope for!
God bless Kamala Harris, and God bless the United States of America!
I was not gloating, that was not my intention. Gloating is for the young before they learn better to leave that alone. No. I was sending that image up to God and around the world because she has the unique experience of serving from the perspective of all three branches of government. She has the personal background of a Black woman who knows a thing or two about this world and she is still a happy warrior. She has first hand experience dealing with immigration and guns and drugs and coyote crimes that cross the border. She turned down the weaker federal agreement when dealing with the massive Wall Street mortgage fraud that nearly destroyed the world economy as well as our own and fashioned her own $20 billion settlement for her California constituents. She served in the Senate and pestered the morally and sexually deficient Brett Kavanaugh to the extent that she wiped that smirk off his face and that was utterly priceless. And she has sat beside Joe Biden who made up for earlier political misplays and laid the groundwork to get this country back on its feet again. She learned from him about foreign policy, matters of war and peace and has come out with a policy regarding Israel’s arming that differs from Biden’s. And I love Joe Biden. But Kamala Harris? She’s one in 300 million and I am an absolute fan. She has the whole package and I’m grateful for Joe’s work, his training, and his handing the baton to this woman.
I have still tender hopes that she’s gonna run away with the popular vote and I’m praying like crazy that she gets the Electoral College. If she does and we win House and Senate majorities, that Electoral College thing oughta be a goner in the first month.

This is a subject on which I could speak volumes.
